The arc that appears in this cluster is not a real feature. Light from an even more distant cluster has been bent by gravity. Gravity can distort light, radio waves, or any electromagnetic radiation. It is interesting to note that, taken together, the gravity of all the stars in this cluster is not sufficient to create the arc; there also must be dark matter in the cluster that cannot be observed directly.
